Korean Ground Beef Bowls
15 min
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 tbsp canola oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for a thicker glaze)
- Cooked white rice
- Steamed broccoli or other vegetables
- Stir the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, ginger, and cornstarch together in a small bowl.
- Heat the canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and brown it, crumbling as you go, about 3-5 minutes. Drain off the excess fat, then add the garlic and cook 1 minute more.
- Pour the sauce over the beef, stir well, and simmer over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until it thickens and coats the meat.
- Top with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over rice with steamed vegetables on the side.
